Swiss hold 150million from Nigeria’s Bribe. U.S. investigators have traced 150 million bucks given by Swiss Banks to Nigeria. Out of 180 million of the given by US officals 150 million was bribes given to Nigeria. Nigeria government asked for the names of each the Nigerian offical accused of negotiating bribes. This scandal occured around 1994-2004, when Haliburton admitred to paying NIgerian officials bribes.

The Nigerain Rebels freed an Italian citizen after containing him for over a week in the state of Ebonyi. This type of kidnapping are common in some states nearby Ebonyi, which is very rare. The Italian Government says that Nigerian officals were allowed to forge some kind of agreement with the gunmen, which ended on a postive note. The man ” Giuseppe Canova said in a phone call to his mother, that the gunman had treated him good and that he was schelduled to come home to Italy in the next few day. Canova was not any kind of oil worker, instead he was working for a construction company, which had been contracted to build a compound for the Ebonyi state government.

On Sunday, April 26, 2009, in Nigeria Nigerian Military Destorys two Militant Camps. This current event reports that the day of the 25th the Nigerain Military raided a militant camp in River near the high Dangerous area in Niger Delta. During this attack thier was very heavy gunfire return that left behind multitudinous dead people. The Militarty obliterated the campsite with no misfortune. The second attack was handled in a similar way but on a different camp in Delta State which had also involed larger amounts of both ammunition and arms from the camps. These attacks were part of the new effort by their government to stop most of the violence in the area.

The president of Nigeria since 2007 is “Umaru Musa YAR’ADUA“.

President of the Republic ” Olusegun Obasanjo” Olusegun still reamains the Nigeria’s president of Republic every since May 29th, 1999.

Chairman of the Provisional Ruling Council ” Abdulsalam Abubakar” Abdulsalam was active in the Miltary, he became Chairman of the Provisional Ruling Council on June 9th, 1998, and retired his postion on May 29th, 1999.

Head of the Interim National Government “Ernest Adekunle Oladeinde Shonekan” Ernest was a civilan from August 26th, 1993 – Novmeber 17th, 1993

Chairman of the Armed Forces Ruling Council “Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida” Ibrahim was Chairman of the National Defence and Security Council, on August 27th, 1985 – Jan 4th, 1993.

In Nigeria’s Economy there are various problems going on such as work labor. Mangement in Nigeria has taken them under for the past ten years. This is costing Nigeria over $1 billion dollars in back pay that they owe the Paris Club for oil backpay. Nigeria provide 95% of excanged earnings just in selling oil. Also Nigeria they recieve about 80% of budgetary revenuse. In August of 2000, the Paris Club offered a debt-restructuring fund deal which was received by Nigeria; In the same year “IMF” gave Nigeria a $1 billion credit. Sad to say Nigeria droped the ‘IMF’ program in April of 2002, the reason of leaving the IMF program was beacuse of not being able to meet spending and exchange rate that was set. Which disqualified the forgiveness debt from the Paris Club. In 2003, Nigeria’s government started to decontrol the earning from the fuel prices. In November 2005, “Abuja” won the approval of the debt-relief deal that rounded $18 billion for the trade of $12 billion in payments, from the Paris Club; the total package worth was $30 billion of Nigeria’s total $37 billion external debt. GDP arose again vastly in 2007 and 2008 on oil exports and high global crude prices. Nigeria’s government has worked hard on developing a more powerful public-private partnership for electricity and roads.
